Founder's Corner

Are you feeling overwhelmed and directionless when it comes to growing your podcast? Well, then I think it's time we explore some out-of-the-box thinking!

When you started your podcast, there was one main goal in mind - put out great content. Then once you've published, you start being bombarded with ideas on how to promote your show, how to grow your audience, get more downloads, consistently publish on socials... and the list goes on!

We can easily become inundated with all things we must get done and we lose sight of why we started in the first place. So what does this mean and where do you go from here?

Let's go back and look at how to define your mission and vision.

When defining your mission, focus on what you want others to know about your podcast. A well-established mission statement helps to focus your podcast not only from a listener's standpoint but for yourself as the host as well.

For your potential listeners, it sets your show apart, yet remains broad enough for your podcast to grow and expand in the future. From an internal point of view, it helps you hone in on the purpose and goals of your show to keep working towards the same outcome.

So now that you are reminded of where you are headed, let's make it simple. You've done all the online promotion, you're spreading your message far and wide... but what about those around you? For every person that you share your podcast with, guaranteed they know someone else that will enjoy your content too.

But how do you reach them?

So, let's look outside the box... or should I say inside the box! Start by baking a batch of cookies. Next, attach a note to each cookie that says, "Enjoy the latest episode of my podcast while you enjoy a freshly baked cookie." And then add in where they can find the latest episode of your show.

Drop off a box of cookies for everyone in your neighborhood. Next week, expand your reach to another neighborhood. This way you are not only growing your audience around you, but you are also getting out, connecting with others, and having fun in the process!

Offline networking can still make a difference!

What are some other out-of-the-box ways you've used to promote your podcast? Would love to hear from you!

Until next week...

Happy podcasting! 🎧

The One About Taking Action Carli and I were doing some “serious business brainstorming” the other day. And at some point in the “very serious brainstorming”, we rabbit-holed (as you do) down a path that led to, at the time, a very natural follow-up question, “So, what’s your go-to karaoke song?” FUN FACT: Carli’s is “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood. (Classic!) Mine is Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice Baby”. 🧊 Less classic. I know. But, for whatever reason, many moons ago, I had this brainwave...

The One About Hot Takes So, I recently did something a little different over on The Podcast Digest…I wrote a post where I shared one of my biggest podcasting 🔥hot takes🔥! 😬 Wanna know what it was? ALL podcasts should be edited! 🫢 Yip. I said it. (And whether you agree ✅ or disagree ❌, you can read the full post below!) And since then, we've been on a bit of a roll in the Hot Takes Department 😉 at We Edit Podcasts. And so I thought I was going to share another hot take with you here. But,...

The One About Confidence Let’s start with a little honesty circle. If you had to rank yourself on the Confidence Scale, where would you place yourself? Had you asked me this question a couple of months, heck, even a couple of weeks ago, I would have definitely placed myself on the lower end of the scale. 🫣 But why? Where did my confidence run off to? I certainly don’t remember signing any permission slips… Which made me realize, if we didn’t give it away, we’ve probably been conned out of our...
